Club Achievements
Nova are primarily a small family orientated target archery club, however we have archers who have performed well in local and national competitions:
Richard & Gayle Seekins: Both represented Yorkshire Archery Association (YAA) in Regional competition such as Northern Counties Archery Society (NCAS) 5-Counties shoots
Tanya Cogan – represented the YAA at the NCAS 5-Counties shoots as a junior archer
Jessie Slater - represented the YAA at the NCAS 5-Counties shoots as both a Senior & Junior archer. YAA Junior Lady Recurve Champion, YAA Senior Lady Recurve Champion. Selected to train with AGB for their regional talent development programme. Attended Archery Great Britain (AGB) selection shoots. Ranked as high at 10th place nationally as a junior archer. Attained Junior Master Bowman classifications 4 years consecutively.
Lewis Slater – represented the YAA at the NCAS 5-Counties shoots as a junior, NCAS Junior male overall Recurve champion. Selected to train with AGB for their regional talent development programme. Attended AGB selection shoots. Ranked as high at 17th place nationally as a junior archer. Selected to train with AGB for their regional talent development programme. Attained Junior Master Bowman classifications 5 years consecutively.
Lorraine Slater – represented the YAA at the NCAS 5-Counties shoot for the past 7 years, numerous team wins in that period. Represented the YAA in the National County Team Tournament for the past 5 years, winning the longbow team award for 4 times in that period. 2nd place lady longbow at the UK masters 2024. Attained Master Bowmen classification for the last 4 years consecutively and ranked as high as 3rd place national ranking in 2022.
Simon Slater – represented the YAA at the NCAS 5-Counties shoots in both Recurve & Longbow bow styles, part of the winning longbow team numerous times. YAA National County Team Tournament Team Manager on various occasions. Awarded the ‘Yorkshire Award’ in 2023 for services to club archery at Nova Bowmen
